Stingray Chair
2020. Furniture.
with Vanessa Rundgren
Presenting a the new modern furniture classic where the act of sitting down is a play, we have worked on presenting a distinctive and curious design with eye-catching lines. With its starting point in the Roly Poly Armchair, Stingray was drafted from a standardised plastic mono-bloc chair with the three characteristic features of Roly Poly in mind: To be bold, excessive and playful.
Lending features from both the original chair and the stingray fish, we have translated our analysis onto the finalised product in an unconventional manner. The substantial armrests simulating the wings of a stingray, along with the shortened, slanted legs of the chair metamorphoses it into a new character. The proportions of the final design appear wide and enlarged. The flowing lines has redefined the white plastic chair to a more lively manner. The act of sitting also becomes a play as the chair presents itself to be an ergonomic challenge to get out of effortlessly.
